Sync your Google Calendar with your project tasks and milestones

Following our initial announcement regarding the integration of GroupCamp project with Google Contacts, we are now happy to announce that we have completed the integration of GroupCamp Project with Google Calendar.

Get your assigned tasks and milestones in your Google Calendar

So what does this feature involve. As you may know we have implemented a new personal settings section for each user where, as always we allow you to customize your account. This is where you choose how you want to receive your weekly email report for your on-going projects.

This is also where you will sync your Google Calendar with your GroupCamp account: all your assigned tasks and milestones (for which you are the owner) will be displayed in your Google Calendar. Please bear in mind that this is only available for GroupCamp Project accounts which have been installed for Google Apps users from the Google Apps Marketplace.

Choosing the right Calendar. Managing status and updates

The management interface in your personal settings will allow you to choose the Google Calendar with which you want to sync. Or you can also create a new Calendar from your GroupCamp account.

In your Google Calendar, the name of the Project and of the Account is displayed as shown below

We have also implemented the following rules for tasks and milestones updates: completed tasks and milestones are no longer displayed in your Google Calendar. If you edit the due date of a task or milestone, your calendar will be updated.  If a task or milestone entry in your calendar is updated (in Google Calendar), the changes will not be reflected in your GroupCamp account. We are working on this but the underlying Google Apps feature is not ready for release. Please note also that we have planned to make the Google Calendar sync available also for consumer Google Accounts (and not only Google Apps accounts).

Get your tasks and milestones in your smartphone

If your Google Calendar is already synced with your smartphone, this feature will allow all your project members to have their tasks on their iphone, android or other smartphones and therefore benefit from the mobile reminders or notification system. The screenshot below shows an assigned task is displayed on an iphone.
